Improvements in Healthcare

A 16 year old girl was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. The emergency room felt like home for her. The physician explained her condition where her immune system is acting abnormally. He added that antibodies are savagely killing her platelets. Death from over bleeding may occur. At an early age, Kelly had undergone several major surgeries and countless hospitalizations.

Autoimmune disease is one of the leading causes of death among women from all age groups. It is categorized as a chronic illness that can either be debilitating or life-threatening. Kelly and millions of Americans live with such medical nightmare. A few years ago, medical advancement modified dramatically. Unfortunately, most doctors are not aware of these changes. For instance, if laparoscopic surgery (a procedure that could reduce several surgeries into one) was known by Kelly’s doctor, she would have saved time and money. Not to mention the discovery of new pipeline treatments, that soon could lead to a whole new type of drugs. This new drug could have exempted her from surgery.

Technology is very obvious, but total application in medicinal sense is not fully widespread. We will now discuss some of the new improvements in healthcare that are readily available to use.

3D Printing
Three dimensional printed models help doctors prepare for transplants and conduct surgery smoothly. In addition, it makes the procedures a lot more accurate. CT scan images are helpful, but 3D models enable the doctor to hold and see the “real thing”, giving them confidence over their procedures.

Medical Robots
Robotic technology is utilized for certain functions like food service, medication distribution, infection control, surgery and diagnostics. Proponents contend that robots can bring many advantages since artificial intelligence can cut labor cost, increase precision, create clinical outcomes and substitute humans from unsafe situations.

Scanadu (real-life Tricorder)
A Scanadu makes the diagnostic process of basic medical stats convenient (like pulse rate, temperature, and blood oxygenation). With the use of this new machine, you can be diagnosed at the comfort of your home. It analyzes data, diagnose the problem, and send the information to a physician that can possibly provide treatment remotely.

Advanced technology has presented physicians countless of better medical options that could save, if not millions, thousands of thousands of lives every day. It is readily available, just waiting for us to discover them making healthcare a lot better.

Before you can achieve the title of becoming a paramedic, you need to start from the basics. Paramedics earn more up to $80,000 a year, while EMTs only get half of it. There is really a big difference between the two, but both of these careers have only one goal, and that is to help those who are in need and save more lives.

Importance of Mathematics in Health Care Support

Mathematics has a big role, not just in school, but in our daily lives as well. We may not be aware that from time to time, we use math in our daily activities. It is a fact that some fields or professions require math way over others. However, understanding how to do some essential and basic calculations is definitely necessary, no matter what job path you choose to take. This is also true if your profession is health care related. You are likely to work alongside other professionals, for example doctors and nurses, even though you will not be directly handling shots or medication, you still need math abilities to be able to thrive within the area. Otherwise, you may find it hard to obtain this type of position. Fortunately, these mathematical abilities aren’t excessively complicated and you’ll not be requested to do complex calculus algorithms.

In medical billing, typing billing information is essential; because it allows not just the patient to understand how much they have to pay, but the insurance company as well. If you input these details improperly it may lead to big trouble. To prevent any kind of complications and altercations regarding money situations, it is crucial to possess math abilities to be able to correctly accumulate information, take away obligations and input the information right into a spreadsheet along with other software program.

Occasionally, you’ll be required to supply detailed instructions for patients. It is usually recommended that you carry out the calculations; the patient must not do it on their own or it may cause some complications. You’ll learn just how to do this all by completing a pharmacy specialist course or with nursing unit clerk courses, which will assist you in your mission to be in any health care support position. When you won’t need extensive calculations, having fundamental mathematics abilities is essential during this type of area.

The Dantes Credit-by-Exam

The Dantes Subject Standardized tests or DSST, also known as the Dantes “Credit-By-Exam,” is a method that provides you the chance to display your college-level achievement through a program of examinations in undergraduate college courses. The Credit-By-Exam tests will save you time and money and help you accomplish your educational objectives. Through the help of the Dantes exam, the student will be able to acquire a college credit by passing the examinations.

College credit exams are broadly recognized by universities and colleges. By passing these assessments, chances are you’ll earn one-third or maybe more of the credits necessary for a college degree. These types of exams can be found in more than 150 subjects and they are similar to the tests provided by universities and colleges during the end of the course.

The DSST will help you acquire your degree, demonstrate your college-level knowledge in subjects relevant to your work or even get a promotion.  It will improve your chances to get into the college that you want. Colleges have their own admission policies; some include a good grade in entrance exams. When you get a passing score for DSSTs on your transcript, it will be a strong evidence of how well you perform at the college level. The exam will give you confidence before you enter college. The Dantes exam can show you how well you can compete in the college world because you will be compared with other current college students through your score.

When considering the Dantes exam, seek advice from the college or university you’re planning to attend, or together with your education counselor, to guarantee the credits satisfy your degree requirements. You must be prepared before taking the examination. Many people say that the DSST is way more difficult than the CLEP exam. Enough preparation by personal review or taking a review class will increase your chances to get a better score.

The Easiest CLEP Examination

The CLEP exam is probably one of the most well known examinations here in the United States. It is recognized by almost all colleges and universities and grants many credits for each test. Students take the examination to get the chance to get a credit by getting a good score. There are those who can get a good passing score, but there are still some who don’t. Some tests are just too hard and will require a huge background and understanding about the topic.

Some say that the “Analyzing and Interpreting Literature CLEP” test is the easiest because the subject is known to many and very familiar. Most of the topics had been covered in high school and have been shown in the television or movies. This test is probably easier for those native English speakers because the tests use poetic terms which might be new to some; although many will disagree. There are people who say that the Humanities CLEP test is the easiest, but some will say that it is one of the hardest along with the Accounting test.

To get you out of confusion on what really is the easiest test, let just say that it depends on your background, your likes, and on what topics you are more familiar or interested. If you are more of a business-minded person and have a business background, you may have a great score in Marketing. And if you are a history maniac, you may have a great score in Western Civilization exams. Generally, the CLEP exam is pretty manageable and easy as compared to the DSST. However, it will still depend on your preparations. No matter how easy the exam is, if you haven’t prepared enough, you will still have a bad score. No exam is hard as long as you put enough effort and focus. The best advice will be to take the test that interests you most and that will fulfill your degree requirements.

About your CLEP Examination Scores

Taking the CLEP exam requires a lot of preparation and focus. There are some who finish and pass without any hustle or retake. However, there are those who don’t pass or score below credit minimum. It’s necessary to know how the scoring works in order to make good test taking strategies for yourself.

Most of the questions are multiple choice. These questions are reviewed and checked by the computer. The essay portions are graded by English professors from different colleges who are specifically picked by the College Board. The score you receive from the essay will be combined with your score on the multiple choice portion. It will then appear as a scaled score in the report.

You’ll notice that there are portions of the exam that are optional. Most of them are essays and are required by specific colleges. The college or university that requires the question will personally check the answers, rather than the College Board.

On the multiple choice questions, you will get one point for each correct answer. When your answer is wrong for a certain item, it will not be deducted from your total score, as well as the unanswered items. It is important to answer every item to get a chance of getting a correct answer than leaving it blank and get no chance. Your totaled scaled score will be shown on your score report. Your score will be in between 20 and 80. If you register for a CLEP exam online, you can name the college or certifying agency that you desire to receive your CLEP test scores. You don’t have to pay for your transcript request; the payment will be included in your exam fee.
