Anatomy & Physiology Textbooks

Usually, nursing students study anatomy & physiology books in the first year. Though they study the books, understanding structure of the human body is quite tough for them. They rely on lessons of their instructors. After passing the first year, they do not need to study anatomy and physiology books for their educational programs. As a result, they forget the requirements very easily. But these textbooks are very good resources of information. If they regularly try to study these books, it will be easier for them to use the knowledge. These days, career of nursing is very essential for humankind. Nurses are the assistants of physicians. Sometimes they have to do a lot of essential tasks. Consequently, they need to know about anatomy and physiology. This textbook is the primary foundation of their nursing education.

Maybe you are starting college and you want to buy some books immediately? But, like most of the learners, you are on a limited price range. So, how do you go about purchasing the necessary books within your budget? There are a lot of choices available out there. So, one has to be skeptical about the offers that are made to him, while looking for inexpensive copies of textbooks like Anatomy and Physiology 9th edition and Microbiology 11th Edition, you need to consider a few things.

Anatomy of the human body and physiology is not that easy to understand. One would really have to understand each body organ and learn to discover how one can considerably impact the other organs’ features. Several techniques are made in educating the said topics. Traditionally, a teacher-students’ conversation in a class room setting will be noticed. These days, most learning organizations have also been starting to implement a lab where preserved parts of one’s human body or body parts may be found. This is one excellent way for learners to better appreciate the course. Movie or animation demonstrations will also be a great resource, aside from textbooks.

The Value of Advanced Placement Courses

An AP exam costs $89 these days and when learners take lots of these classes, cost can really load up.  Advanced placement course are rich with possibilities. They offer dissatisfied honor students with a more challenging intellectual environment. They allow college candidates to happily litter their transcript and resumes with courses considered extensive by admission authorities. They can even permit learners with great ratings on the AP examinations to earn college credit in high school, saving money and time later.

But with those opportunities comes a price. Not a monetary cost, but a price in terms of time, tolerance, and peace of mind. To succeed in advanced placement courses, learners have to be entirely dedicated to achieving their goals in such a class and be willing to read voraciously, write regularly and study industriously. These objectives result in lost time, eagerness (and even anger) and pressure at different degrees throughout the course. That being said, AP is totally beneficial. Not for their college credit opportunities or their appeal on programs, but for the intellectual stimulation they offer for the future.  Advanced placement courses reveal learners to the level of reading, writing, studying and thinking that will ultimately be expected while attending college and the pressure that will go along with the academic work.

Regardless of the school credit that one actually gets, AP programs undoubtedly will assist learners in their pursuit for a degree; they minimize the shock of college expectations. The AP experience can be extended beyond college study. The close evaluation of relevant details in each AP discipline better shows learners of how the world works. For instance, teachers’ labor unions immediately remind you of socialist reforms in response to British industrialism. Education and learning improves one’s life experience and the College Board has provided an outlet for learners to receive an excellent education at an earlier age.

Positive Psychology Studies

In An Introduction to Positive Psychology, Dr. William Compton depicts positive psychology as looking “to make typical life more satisfying.” It uses the scientific method to comprehend the positive and candidly satisfying parts of human behavior. It is the study of what actions, interests and inspirations best contribute to the good life. These interests are accessible to us paying little heed to our heritage, background or socioeconomic standing. They are uninhibitedly accessible to any individual who decides to commit their lives to them. Here are some interesting positive psychology studies done by researchers.

1. From Wealth to Well-being – Harvard Business School, 2009. While there does seem, by all accounts, to be some association between happiness and income when fundamental needs are not yet met, individuals have a tendency to overestimate the impact of riches on happiness by 100%. Money does not lead as much happiness that individuals think it will.

2. Purchasing Experiences, not Possessions, Leads to Greater Happiness – San Francisco State University, 2009. This psychology study shows that experiential buys, for example, a dinner out or theater tickets, bring about better well being than material belongings. These experiences have a tendency to fulfill higher order needs, particularly the requirement for social connectedness and a feeling of being invigorated.

3. The Science of Gratitude – University of Pennsylvania, 2005. One of the best contributing variables to general happiness in life is the amount of appreciation we show. Furthermore, an observable contrast could be experienced with as little as three words every day (“Thank you for… “).

4. Trust, Morality, and Oxytocin – Claremont Graduate University, 2011. In light of research discoveries, psychologists believe humankind’s trust, compassion and ethical quality expand as their levels of oxycotin expand.

5. For a Better Day, Smile – Michigan State University, 2011. Individuals who smile as a consequence of developing positive thoughts can fundamentally and promptly enhance their mood. Simply put, one easy approach to enhance your state of mind at this moment is to recall pleasant memories and smile about it.

Being Active in Assisted Living Centers

A long time ago, an excursion to the doctor’s office for a senior housing resident in a wheelchair was frequently the only connection they had to the outside world. That was yesterday. Today’s message is that individuals living in assisted living centers and retirement groups can and do stay extremely active. Handouts and sites for elder care offices now promote their capacity to give transportation to hair stylists, shopping plazas, religious services, trips and numerous other every day exercises, even on short notice. Sufficient transportation empowers elderly inhabitants to live all the more autonomously and prevent feelings of disconnection. Hence, focuses are changing the way they manage and organize outside activities, giving occupants more decisions on what they might want to do regularly.

What separates one office from an alternate in helping active senior lifestyles can frequently be found outside the focal point, primed to take a gathering of seniors out and about. It’s the various minibuses and wheelchair-available vans, in numerous shapes and sizes that give this valuable service. Assisted living centers with a sufficient armada of shuttle transports and wheelchair vans are discovering that their vehicles are a noticeable difference. Families that help with assessing assisted living centers regularly look to transportation benefits as an indicator of whether their parent or grandparent is going to have the capacity to keep enjoying the activities they’re accustomed to.

From a marketing point of view, shuttle transports are moving billboards that give consistent, visual commercials of the senior living center to the community. For operational and restorative purposes, they are basic to the administrations being given. While numerous offices contract for medical ambulatory type outings, the flow and significance to client fulfillment in getting inhabitants to outside exercises has changed how associations see their transport limit. By expanding their transportation proficiencies and advertising offer with more movement alternatives, an office has a greater shot of keeping their units filled.

Focuses today can have a few multi-passenger vehicles out and about at any given time, transporting one or twelve inhabitants to and from different destinations. Almost all of these transport vehicles have a wheelchair lift and space for wheelchair travelers, a fundamental characteristic in giving versatility and opportunity to numerous occupants. A few vehicles can fit a few wheelchairs, while others can just fit one or two at once. All wheelchair vans have special tie-down frameworks set up for keeping wheelchairs set up and for traveler security.

Senior Care and Overall Wellness

Gone are the days when senior care was specifically about dealing with medical needs. Instead, the present day modern senior living facilities take a much more natural strategy, servicing the senior’s body and mind. In addition, senior living is constantly on the go from the standard elderly care facility servicing very ill sufferers, to independent living communities housing active and vibrant elderly people. As a result, the industry has adapted to offer an extensive continuum of care that focuses on the resident’s overall health and fitness.

Following this pattern of senior, a recent blog on Senior Care Corner provided 8 tips for helping elderly people improve and sustain their memory. It points out that “the brain function of aging can begin when we are only 45 and that by age 80, average people have lost 40% of their memory.” Many of these recommendations replicated the idea underlining dimensions of health and fitness concept, elderly people need to be pushed and involved in a variety of activities. Some recommendations in the article are to:

  • Find ways to keep them active
  • Provide psychologically exciting activities
  • Engage them in social activities
  • Get your senior connected to family, friends and other networks

Most significantly, dimension of health and fitness play a crucial part in a resident’s evolving senior care plan. The powerful changes to various measurements may illustrate a minor decrease that may need to be analyzed by the medical employees and therefore may require appropriate changes to the care plan. Such simple changes in health and fitness and practical recognition of the same along with a proper good care plan, could save communities significant money (tied to demographics, improved ADL services, lawsuits, etc.). In summary, senior health is no longer about just offering the best medical care, but is about offering the best overall care.

Healthcare Problems

Charles Krauthammer provided us all advice when he recommended that we should neglect what President Obama says and focus on what he does. The reality is that very little that Obama peddled to America when he was attempting to gain support for the Affordable Healthcare Act was true. What is going to happen to many People in America in the next months and years is what individuals should be focused on. We might want to consider some of the following, because it may affect us all, one way or the other.

As many as one-half of all American doctors may refuse to join the healthcare transactions. Without doctors, it will be a very hard to make the transactions work and guarantees long waits to see a doctor.

The White House and surrogates say a few individuals will lose their healthcare coverage. The estimate of a 5% cancellation rate would signify about 16 million individuals, or about one-half the number of the uninsured that was originally used to rationalize this problem. Each cancellation provides with it a tale and for some, a complete loss of insurance plan and lack of ability to get treatment. And perhaps as many as a third of the population could be affected once the employer mandates kick in.

The government gets to decide on the details of healthcare coverage each resident will be needed to buy. An older woman may be needed to buy pre-natal coverage; a younger man may be needed to buy coverage for geriatric care. The Affordable Care Act does not differentiate between the needs of the younger and the old, or the sex of the policy-holder, or the needs and wishes of the individual. It is an all-encompassing, like it program, because there is no leaving it.

In order for the program to work, younger, healthy individuals must buy the government required insurance policy. Since most adolescents have no medical problems and the penalty enforced is much less expensive than buying the actual policy, many will no doubt opt to pay the penalty. The fact that previous medical conditions cannot remove one from buying insurance plan makes the choice to pay the penalty and wait until the need for healthcare insurance coverage occurs, a no-brainer.

Result Oriented Distance Education

Distance education is a variable that is different for each individual student. Some students are more relaxed than others with practicing autonomy in:

  • Setting their studying goals,
  • Selecting their studying techniques,
  • Monitoring their meta-cognitive states,
  • Ensuring that they have obtained their predetermined goals, and
  • Assessing when they have exceeded perfecting predetermined goals and have obtained the capability to be innovative, fix problems and deal with unique conditions when they occur instantly and suddenly.
  • More independent students usually reduce the stage of transactional distance between themselves and their teachers. Other students require more structure in their studying. They:
  • Are less likely to set their own studying goals and depend more on what is set for them in advance,
  • Are more relaxed with preselected studying techniques as in comparison to choosing such techniques for themselves,
  • Prefer to get support in how to observe their meta-cognitive states,
  • Rely on consistent assessments to make sure that they have obtained the specified goals of training, and
  • Arrive at critical thinking, troubleshooting and creativeness with the support of a group of students.

Less independent students usually increase the stage of transactional distance. However, both categories of students and the many more that fit in between them benefit from versatile distance education that accommodate their patience for independence and meet their need for framework.

Distance education in-and-of-itself has no value other than serving the learning of students according to their skills (ability to perform particular projects under certain conditions.  More transactional distance is not better or more intense; its appropriate stage relies on the skills of each individual student while executing a process). The objective for all students is to be successful, some may take more time, some less, but all of them would master the conventional studying goals. Distance education created based on the concept of transactional distance is, therefore, result oriented; it measure the efficiency of the student under certain conditions as the important factor in the teaching-learning formula.

The Significance of Mathematics

To begin with, Mathematics does not have a clearly described, globally approved meaning. However it is safe to say that anything that researches the connections between qualities, variables, structure and change, is mathematics. Mathematics is not a concrete factor, but actually a subjective idea. There are a good many techniques of showing mathematics; the one you are probably most acquainted with is the base ten Arabic format that spreads throughout science right now. The base, the signs, the structure and the techniques used to show mathematics can all be drastically different and yet, it is still mathematics. Other cultures have created other techniques of showing mathematics and if we ever run into alien intelligence, it is likely that they will use a different program than we do. But the program is not the point. This is because mathematics is the appearance and quantification of primary sensible ideas and then it develops on those sensible ideas to form progressively complicated ideas. It is, however, entirely a sensible development.

The crazy thing about logic is that the advanced things are complicated, the advanced things are easy, and the primary things are greatly more complicated than the advanced things. This is one purpose why explaining mathematics is challenging. ‘Mathematical Logic’ and ‘Set Theory’ are both essential areas of the viewpoint that forms the base of mathematics, but both of those are regarded part of mathematics and therefore are rationally incorrect explanations for mathematics.

You could think of this as a sensible inconsistency with reasoning itself. The confusing thing is that even though overall sensible evidence is challenging as per Münchhausen’s Trilemma, it is still usually fairly easy to figure out if a sensible line is legitimate or not, particularly in mathematics. Mathematics is the most essential kind of reasoning possible (in technology anyway) and therefore it is easy to reason that mathematics is the best way of expressing the universe.

Questions in Hospice Care

According to a research by the Post, one in six hospices in the United States did not provide crisis care to their dying patients this year. “The lack of such care,” had written Post reporters Peter Whoriskey and Dan Keating, “suggests that some hospice care outfits are stinting on medical care, according to hospital professionals. Inspection and issue information, meanwhile, illustrate the discomfort of sufferers who have been left without proper care.” And, indeed, Whoriskey and Keating offer some experiences about failures, starting with 85-year-old Ying Tai Choi, a Tampa, Florida, woman whose nurse abandoned her an hour before she died.

What gives the Post’s research value beyond its immediate impact, though, is that the document submitted the data source it used to carry out its reporting. The Post says it examined Medical health insurance payments information for more than 2,500 hospice care companies as well as “an internal Medical health insurance count of medical care in sufferers near death and examined complaint records at hundreds of hospices.” By showing its work, the document has provided valuable leads for follow-up experiences by news organizations across the country. According to the data source, 16 percent of 43 hospice care facilities serving 22,865 sufferers in Massachusetts reported providing no crisis care this year. That percentage is right around the national average, though it is higher than any other New England state.

Under Medical health insurance guidelines, a hospice must be able to offer crisis care to its critically ill sufferers, which the Post tells us, is “either ongoing medical care at home or an inpatient bed at a hospital.” The Post is careful to point out that the mere fact that a service did not offer crisis care in a given year is not evidence that there’s anything wrong. It’s possible that none of its sufferers needed it. A further explanation: The lack of crisis care does not necessarily indicate a breach of the guidelines. But hospital professionals say it is unlikely that larger hospices had no sufferers who required such care. In other words, the data source provides questions, not answers, precisely the information news companies’ need for follow-up reports at the local level. Investigative reporting is expensive and time-intensive. The Post’s hospice care story provides reporters with a great jump start.

Digital Humanities

The humanities are in a crisis again, or still. But there is one big exception: digital humanities, which are a development market. During 2009, the nascent field was the talk of the Modern Language Association (MLA) convention: “among all the challenging sub-fields,” a press reporter had written about that year’s gathering, “the digital humanities seem like the first ‘next big thing’ in a long time.” Even previously, the National Endowment for the Humanities designed its Office of Digital Humanities to help finance projects. And digital humanities is constantly on the go from strength to strength, thanks in part to the Mellon Foundation, which has seeded programs at a number of colleges with large grants, most recently, $1 million to the University of Rochester to make a graduate fellowship.

Despite all this passion, the question of what the digital humanities is has yet to be given an acceptable response. Indeed, no one asks it more often than the digital humanists themselves. The latest development of guides on the subject from source books and anthologies to crucial manifestos is an indication of a field undergoing an identity crisis, trying to find out which, if anything, combines the different actions taken on under its advertising. “Nowadays,” says Stephen Ramsay in Interpreting Digital Humanities, “the term can mean anything from press research to digital art, from information exploration to edutech, from scholarly editing to anarchic blogging, while inviting code junkies, digital artists, standards wonks, transhumanists, game theorists, free culture supporters, archivists, librarians, and edupunks under its capacious fabric.”

These are the types of concerns that humanists ought to be well prepared to answer. Indeed, they are just the latest types of concerns that they have been asking since the Industrial Trend started to make our tools our masters. The position of uncertainty is a wearisome one for the humanities, now perhaps more than ever, when technology is so assured and life is so self-suspicious. It is no wonder that some humanists are influenced to toss off the traditional burden and generate the humanities with the content sources and the militant assurance of the digital. The risk is that they will awaken one morning to find that they have marketed their birthright for a mess of applications.
